Tour Information

Wildebeest Migration (calving – Serengeti plains) Every year around 1.5 million wildebeests and hundreds of thousands of zebras cross the Serengeti plains on the search of fresh food and water, creating the largest terrestrial mammal migration. During this fight for survival, many wildebeest die, usually victims of the many predators that lie on the way and from exhaustion and starvation. Often considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World, the annual wildebeest migration across the plains of the Serengeti is the greatest wildlife spectacle on Earth. On a migration safari, you can follow the steps of the wildebeests and zebras in the Serengeti National Park. To help plan your Serengeti safari, the following map shows the typical movements of the wildebeest migration:
1. Ndutu area known for calving (mid December-March)
2. Southern Serengeti heading to Western Corridor (April-June)
3. Western Corridor heading to Northern Serengeti (June-July)
4. Northern Serengeti to Masai Mara (July-October)
5. Masai Mara to Northern Serengeti, Loliondo and Lobo area (October-mid December)
